“FASHION IS MY PASSION and DANCE IS MY LIFE”
INTRODUCTION
My name is Monica Ahuja. I currently reside in Maryland and I recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Management and Entrepreneurship from Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. I am a perfect mix of Indian and Pakistani parents and grandparents. I came to U.S. from India in 2008. I am an ambitious, creative and very organized person. I have many hobbies but Fashion and Dance are two that I love the most. Other hobbies include going to the gym, cake decorating, makeup artistry etc. I also am actively involved in the community, especially in the South Asian community in the DMV Area. I love volunteering for different Charity projects, Fashion Projects, Dance Projects and any chance I get to help people through my skills.
WHY FASHION
I am a new fashion blogger, however, I have been a Fashion Lover since I was a little Kid. My passion for fashion started with making tiny clothes for my barbie dolls to making clothes for myself and family when I was a teen. I even designed few outfits from scratch including sewing them myself for different fashion shows that I worked with through my fashion class in High School. I got awarded several times in class competitions for creative and innovative designs. I wanted to go to Fashion School but couldn’t at that time due to various personal factors and ended up graduating with a Business degree from the University of Maryland. I am glad I did so because now I can excel in both fashion and business which is a perfect combination that I needed for this website.
WHY DANCE
As I mentioned in my introduction I have been actively involved in the community and a lot of it is through my dance skills. I have personally performed in more than 50 social events (Entertainment and Charity) and choreographed for more 150 People which includes groups performing for South Asian social events, pageants, solo performances, high school performances, my own college organization events and even groups for American college shows. My sweet spot is Bollywood Dance but I love exploring learning other forms of dancing as well. I did train in Bharatnatyam through my middle school for about 3 years before I moved to the United States in 2008. I have met so many amazing people since I came to this country and learned various new forms, such as Tango, Jazz and even some Ethiopian. As I move along with this website and my YouTube channel, my goal is to pair and partner with different people from different cultures and not limit myself to Bollywood.
